Family Activity Centre with Caravan and Camping facilities.

Based just outside Ballycastle, Watertop Farm is firmly established as one of Northern Ireland's top tourist attractions during the summer months. This busy commercial hill farm is home to the McBride Family who have farmed here for three generations. Agri Tourisim began at Watertop in 1969 with the Loughareema Pony Trekking Centre. In 1986 Watertop opened to the general public and was the forerunner to open farms being created in Ireland at that time and up to the present day. From early beginnings with Pony trekking in 1969, Watertop now offers a range of family activities to suit all ages.

Pony Trekking is still a major attraction. Our normal half hour trek is the most popular. Long enough to give the experience of riding a horse, short enough not to phase the very young or the not so young! With the most amazing views it’s a fantastic way to enjoy the unique Glens of Antrim scenery. Of course for those who just want a short experience of horse riding, we have non stop pony rides every day.

One of the most novel and exciting aspects of Watertop has to be the “Paddiwagon”. This ex-army 4×4 truck takes you on a breathtaking tour of the farm. With some 3 miles of gravel tracks through the farm, incredible scenery and some very steep terrain a trip on the Paddiwagon is not to be missed!

Novel equipment is a bit of a theme at Watertop. The Quad train is the most unusual fun trip you are likely to have! Seven little “barrels” towed behind an A.T.V , it is the fun ride that everyone will remember. The twisty track, the bumps and dips make for another great activity.

For those who prefer to use their own power, Pedal go-karts on a purpose built track, will suit you down to the ground. With karts to suit all ages the entire family can have a go. Go-karts use the legs but the Boats use the arms. A number of small rowing boats are available on the small lake. Each boat carries 4–5 people, the children all have lifejackets so again the whole family can have a go.

You will notice a trend here. The activities at Watertop are designed so that all the family can take part and enjoy what Watertop has to offer. Our new indoor facility which includes a bouncy slide, climbing wall and a range of fun activities for all the family has proved to be a big plus for the farm especially on a wet day in the summer!

The “Low Ropes Assault Course” is designed to test and push your stamina to the limit! Professionally designed , the assault course is the ultimate big boys playground.

There are small animals to cuddle, chickens and sheep to feed, a small museum, scenic walks, picnic tables, play park etc etc.
So when you have done all that and you need a rest and refreshment head for the Lakeside Tea Room. From huge traditional frys to homemade apple pie and traybakes… no need to go home hungry!

Of course the only thing better than visiting Watertop is to stay at Watertop! Caravans and tents are pitched in areas next to the farmyard and all the facilities. What a fantastic holiday destination!

Forget big sprawling caravan parks. One large camping area complete with electric hook up and water at each pitch, and three small caravan sites. Some hard stands and some grass pitches, electric hook-up and water hook-up, heated showers and laundry room complete the facilities. We also offer Group Camping near the farmyard for Duke of Ed, Schools etc.

So get yourself along to Watertop this summer for a fun packed family day out with a difference!
