Antrim Glens Tourism’s annual festival of storytelling and music.

The Ghosts in the Glens Storytelling Festival, organised by Antrim Glens Tourism, aims to attract both tourists and local people for a four day celebration of the rich traditions of storytelling and music in the Glens of Antrim, the cultural heart of the Causeway Coast and Glens.

Four days of storytelling and music for all the family. On the lead up to Hallowe’en, a magical time in Ireland, the stories told will have a distinctly spooky flavour as the festival theme is one of ghosts, fairies and banshees.

Listeners of all ages will be welcome at venues in Glenariff, Cushendall, Cushendun, Ballycastle and Rathlin Island. As well as evening concerts featuring fine storytelling and music there will be special highlights such as “Ghosts on the Coast”, a story-telling boat trip to the magical Rathlin Island. A family story-walk around Glenariff Forest Park with its beautiful waterfalls will enable listeners to enjoy the tales in a spectacular location.

For those wanting to develop their own storytelling skills there will be a workshop and a story-swap where they can have a go themselves. Younger members of the family can enjoy “not so scary” stories and there will be other special children’s activities such as quizzes, crafts and fancy dress.

So come and experience the true spirit of the Glens of Antrim at this unique festival where listeners of all ages will hear tales of ghosts, fairies and witches to send shivers up their spines.

The festival aims to strengthen the cultural links and celebrate the diversity of the population living in the Glens today.
